Student pursuing a degree in political science benefit from a broad education in politics and government. They gain a sound understanding of American government, other forms of government and the interactions among nations. The program acknowledges that “ideas have consequences” and emphasizes the appreciation of ancient and modern political thought.

In addition, students attain the speaking and writing skills necessary to work in the various occupations connected with politics.

Students who major in political science will be prepared for:

  • Government occupations (local, state, or federal)
  • Nonprofit sector careers
  • Business jobs
  • Post-graduate study in law, public administration, hospital administration and business
