Garry has remained involved with Averett since his graduation. Prior to beginning his tenure as Alumni Director in Aug. 2004, Garry served as a Class Representative for the Class of '81, worked with Vesa Hiltunen to start the Averett Cougar Club and served as an officer on the club's board for 8 years. Garry served on other boards and committees through the years to support the growth and success of Averett. He was inducted into the Cougar Club Hall of Fame in 2003.
Garry holds a degree in Social Work from Averett and has spent 20 years working in the human services field with youth, families and persons with developmental disabilities. Garry continues to be involved in the Danville community working with youth and coaching. He is married to Patsy Wilson Pritchett ' 82, and they have three girls, Nicole, Tiffany and Marie. Garry is always available to meet and talk with alumni to keep them informed and connected with Averett.

Sherry joined Averett in November 2001. She received her Associate of Applied Science degree from Rockingham Community College. She is married to Mac McDowell and has two children. Her son, Jonathan, is a student at Averett, and her daughter, Jessa, is in high school. Sherry enjoys meeting alumni and assisting them with any questions or requests and they may have.
