Founded in 1974, the Market Street Brass Quintet is the resident faculty brass quintet at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. The group has performed music styles ranging from Renaissance to jazz throughout the United States.

The Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, which was founded by Misha Rachlevsky in 1991, is one of Russia's leading ensembles. The orchestra is comprised of some of Russia's finest young string players and performs all over the world.

Author. Critic. Professor. Alan Cheuse wears many different hats. His work includes "Candace and Other Stories," "Fall Out of Heaven," "The Fires," and his newest book, a collection of travel essays, "A Trance After Breakfast: And Other Passages." Cheuse teaches in the writing program at George Mason University and the Squaw Valley Community of Writers. He is also a regular reviewer for the NPR radio program "All Things Considered."

Antiques expert, appraiser and author Emyl Jenkins will discuss her novels "Stealing with Style" and "The Big Steal," which feature her heroine, Sterling Glass. Jenkins, who grew up in Danville, started out writing antique books. Her first was "Why You're Richer Than You Think" and was later reissued as "Emyl Jenkins' Appraisal Book," followed by "Southern Christmas" and "Southern Hospitality."

Described as "superb" by The Boston Globe and a "versatile and sensitive pianist" by The Washington Post, Joel Fan has performed to critical acclaim with orchestras across the United States and around the world. A member of Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, Fan has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Santa Fe Pro Musica, London Sinfonietta and Singapore Symphony.

Based on the fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea" the musical comedy "Once Upon a Mattress" tells the story of Queen Aggravaine, who is trying to find a suitable mate for her son, Prince Dauntless the Drab, by putting numerous princesses through a variety of tests.

"Blood Done Sign My Name"

Timothy Tyson, author of "Blood Done Sign My Name," is a memoir and history of the murder of a black man, Henry Marrow in Oxford, N.C. in 1970. In 2005, the book won the Southern Book Award and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Tyson is a visiting professor at Duke University's Divinity School.

Individual ticket prices are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. Season tickets for Averett Players’ productions may be purchased for $25 (adults) or $20 (senior citizens and students).
