We invite you to show your support of Averett athletics by joining the Cougar Club. The Cougar Club, Averett’s athletic booster club, works tirelessly to meet the changing needs of Averett’s athletics program. More than 1/3 of the undergraduates in Averett’s traditional program are members of Cougar athletic teams. The Cougar Club honors these athletes with our Annual Cougar Club Athletic Banquet, buys championship banners for winning teams, and assists in many other ways to see that Averett athletics is a positive experience for participants and fans alike. The Club also holds an annual captain’s choice golf tournament. An active Cougar Club benefits the entire university and the surrounding community.

INDIVIDUAL and FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS:

Cougar Cub - $50 Individual; $100 Family (lapel pin, membership card)

Blue and Gold Cougar - $100 Individual; $150 Family (lapel pin, membership card, preferred seating with purchase of season tickets)

Golden Cougar - $150 Individual; $200 Family (lapel pin, membership card, preferred seating with purchase of season tickets, parking)

Cougar Guardian – Persons whose donations exceed the $150 Individual or the $200 Family giving levels of the Golden Cougar. (Benefits are the same as for the Golden Cougar, except with a larger gift to the program.)

Cougar Friends – Persons with gifts of $5 to $49 to support the athletics program (membership card)

The Cougar Club Hall of Fame acknowledges individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Averett University Athletics and who engage in activities that further the purpose of the University and the Cougar Club. The Initial Inductees were formally inducted into the Hall of Fame during the Grand Opening Activities, which took place on Homecoming Weekend, 1998. Additional members were inducted Homecoming Weekend, 2000, 2002, and 2003. Inductees will receive a plaque recognizing their accomplishments and their names will be inscribed on a permanent plaque hung in the athletic awards room in the Grant Center. Cougar Club Hall of Fame Nominees may come from the following categories:

1. FORMER AVERETT UNIVERSITY ATHLETES - played for Averett at least one (1) year when the institution was a junior college and two (2) years if they participated after Averett became a four-year institution; must have graduated from the University at least five (5) years prior to nomination; must demonstrate excellence in leadership, sportsmanship, scholarship, and citizenship both as an athlete and as an Averett alumni.

2. AVERETT UNIVERSITY COACHES - current or former coaches with at least five (5) years of experience at Averett; demonstrates a knowledge and genuine appreciation of his/her sport; has/had a good rapport with the student athlete; understands and works to further the Mission of Averett University and the Athletic Department; demonstrates excellence in leadership, sportsmanship, and citizenship.

3. COUGAR CLUB MEMBERS - has been an active member of the Cougar Club for at least five (5) years; has made an outstanding contribution to the Club and/or Averett Athletics; shows a genuine appreciation of college athletics and the student athlete; demonstrates excellence in leadership, sportsmanship, and citizenship.

4. OTHERS - any individual who does not fit into the above categories but who has made an outstanding contribution to the Club and/or Averett Athletics; shows a genuine appreciation of college athletics and the student athlete; demonstrates excellence in leadership, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
