Trustee Scholarship Winner Announced
Katie LoPresti of Northridge, Calif., is the 2008-09 Trustee Scholarship winner. Katie plans to double major in equestrian studies and business administration. "The main reasons I chose Averett were because the equine program was exactly what I wanted, and there was such a welcoming, family spirit about everyone I met. I really felt at home when I walked on campus for the first time."

A Note from Chris Davis
Thank you so much for the wonderful retirement reception and the beautiful framed print "Danville - A Profile III" by Harry Aron II that was presented to me at the reception. It already has a very special place in my home. Averett has been a wonderful place to work, and I will miss all the wonderful people that I have become acquainted with over the past 20 years.
Averett is one of those special places that makes a difference in the lives of others, and I am very proud of having the opportunity of being a small part of that difference.
Thank you again for the beautiful gift and the wonderful reception.
My best to all,
Chris Davis

Thornton Taking Position with UVA
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of Randy Thornton, '97, from Averett. After having spent four years on Averett’s campus as a student and returning to work for four years in our Financial Aid office, we feel that we are losing one of our own. Randy has accepted a position at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in the department of student financial services. His last day at Averett will be April 18. I know all of you will want to join us in wishing Randy the best in his new location and in his future endeavors.
