Move In Day
For many of our incoming freshmen it's going to be their first time on campus, and we know it's going to be hot. So to help them when they're moving in on Aug. 22, please park in the lower Frith lot or the parking lot at Ascension Lutheran Church. We want to do everything we can to make the day go smoothly for them. Thank you!


Averett’s Opening Celebration
Faculty/Staff Reception and Dinner-Aug. 20
President Franks and her husband, Joe, look forward to welcoming the Averett family (staff, faculty, spouses and guests) to the President’s Home, 500 Hawthorne Drive, for a reception on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 5-6:15 p.m., followed by dinner in the Student Center Dining Hall at 6:30 p.m. If you have not yet responded, please contact Karen Ward at ext. 15671 or e-mail kward@averett.edu by Aug. 15.


McCrumb books on Sale
The books - "The Songcatcher" and "St. Dale" - Sharyn McCrumb will discuss on Sept. 22 will be on sale in the Averett bookstore the week of Aug. 18 for $6.71 each (tax included). Ms. McCrumb will be available to autograph your book. Call the bookstore at ext. 15641 for the exact date.

Congratulations, Fred!
Dr. Fred Bolton, dean of the GPS Program, completed the US Army War College on July 25. It was a two year program that led to a master of strategic studies degree. The US Army War College is the highest level of professional development available for officers in the US Army.






Joel's a Dad!
Director of Admissions Joel Nester, '00, and his wife Adrian, '01, are pleased to announce the birth of Patrick Daniel on Aug. 5. Patrick weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and is 21 ins. long with blonde hair and brown eyes. Congratulations, Joel!
