Opening Convocation
Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend Opening Convocation Aug. 28 at 11:15 a.m. in Pritchett Auditorium. Dr. Franks will speak about "What it means to be a member of the Averett Community."

Emergency Plan
As the semester begins, we will be having emergency drills as well as fire drills around campus on a regular basis. For more information check out the Critical Incident Response Plan (CIRP) on the Web site under the Faculty/Staff link.

Save the Trees
Paper and cardboard boxes lying around the office? Recycle it in the green bin in the lower Frith parking lot. Averett has also partnered with Habitat for Humanity, collecting aluminum cans in the dorms. If your office is interested in recycling cans as well, contact Charles Harris about getting a recycle box.

Drew Wilson, former sports editor at the Danville Register & Bee, has joined the athletics department as the sports information director.

Congratulations, Alonzo!
Alonzo Jones, former housekeeping supervisor, has been promoted to assistant director of Aramark operations. Alonzo has worked at Averett for 10 years.
