Title: Director of Institutional Effectiveness
Department: Reports to President
Location: Main Campus, Danville
Position Description/Application Process
The Director of Institutional Effectiveness will (1) report directly to the President; (2) serve as the college administrator responsible for planning, developing, directing, evaluating, and conducting institutional compliance efforts and research; (3) take a leading role in strategic and planning processes; and (4) serve as liaison to accrediting agencies (including the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) and assure institutional compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the ongoing development and implementation of the University strategic plan as it relates to Institutional Effectiveness initiatives
- Provide leadership in the development of policies and procedures for planning and research in conjunction with IE goals and the university's goals and mission
- Coordinate a systematic and integrated institutional planning process that is aligned with accreditation and licensure
- Compile, analyze, and maintain statistical and other data for reports related to institutional effectiveness including demographics, productivity, student success, retention, persistence; provide reports as assigned; coordinate timely responses to surveys and reports for ongoing efforts of the university to measure its effectiveness
- Provide consultation, support and/or technical assistance on specific research projects for departments, administration, programs, and faculty
- Provide leadership in the design, implementation, and analysis of student satisfaction surveys, campus climate and community surveys.
Qualifications include:
Strategic Planning
- Work directly with the president and other university leaders to develop a system for strategic planning
- Provide historical data appropriate to establishing baselines for future planning
- Research forecasting models that provide information for viability studies of potential plans
- Assist in establishment of assessment methods for measuring the success of strategic goals.
Assessment
- Provide leadership in developing an assessment plan ranging from establishment of outcomes and methods of assessment to the interpretation and analysis of the results and follow-up decision making
- Coordinate program specific assessment and planning activities, including departmental program review.
- Provide leadership in academic, support and administrative assessment efforts.
Analysis
- Analyze academic and administrative and institutional effectiveness data in support of decision-making and policy formation
- Perform and analyze external environmental scanning
Accreditation
- Act as the Accreditation Liaison Officer and coordinate continuing institutional self-study, scheduling and logistics in preparation for Accreditation review
- Create response efforts as required by SACS
- Compile and submit accreditation update reports.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Experience writing reports to accreditors and department of education.
- Experience in outcomes assessment.
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and report preparation.
- Competence in statistical and analytical research methods.
- Experience with strategic planning is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational, project management and facilitation skills.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills and a demonstrable ability to work effectively with faculty and administrators.
- Experience with proprietary education models and philosophy.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work well within a diverse environment.

Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer
Department: Athletics
Location: North Campus
Position Description/Application Process
- The Assistant Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Head Athletic Trainer
- Maintain good standing with NATA Board of Certification
- Maintain good standing with Virginia State Licensure through the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Medicine
- Be familiar with Averett University’s Athletic Department Policies and Procedures
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the following duties:
Referral of athletic injuries/illnesses to team physicians
Keeping a current and complete medical file on each student-athlete
Maintain confidentiality with student-athlete medical records
Communicate with coaches the practice/game status of injured
Keeping an inventory of athletic training room permanent and expendable supplies
Scheduling medical coverage for athletic team practices and home competitions (travel required for away football games and NCAA post-season competition)
Supervision of graduate assistant athletic trainer, and athletic training students
Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
Qualifications include:
- ATC certified and Master's Degree
- Demonstrated ability communicate in a classroom setting, while serving as an adjunct professor in the Athletic Training Department.
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University's commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages
