Title: Chief Financial Officer
Department: Business and Administration
Location: Main Campus, Danville VA

Position Description/Application Process
The Vice President for Business and Finance is the Chief Financial Officer and manages the areas of business, finance and investments, including but not limited to, Comptroller, Budget and Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Student Accounts, Financial Aid administration, activities related to the Averett Foundation, Information Technology and risk management. The CFO is responsible for the financial planning and policies, (including the capital plan, budgeting, procurement, cash management, debt anagement and risk). Reporting to the President, the CFO serves as a member of the President's Leadership Team and participates in formulating broad strategic and managerial policies and decisions across all of the University. The Vice President works closely with the Averett University Board of Trustees and with leaders in the local community.

Qualifications include:

The successful candidate will be a person of integrity with the values, capacities, and interpersonal skills to work in a collegial environment; have the financial, management, and interpersonal skills to lead a professional staff; and have a demonstrable commitment to service and support of the academic mission and continued expansion of the University. The successful candidate will ideally possess an advanced degree in business administration, accounting or finance or have CPA certification and the following: Successful managerial experience in a senior role in the area of financial management and strategy, preferably in higher education, with exposure to fund management; a track record of developing effective team work while achieving significant results; outstanding leadership skills; and strong oral and written communication skills. Strong fiscal and operational management skills and demonstrated ethical practices are essential and experience in managing information systems is desired.
