"ARTICLE LINKER/"Find It At Averett" works with NISO Open/Url standard to "link out" from citations in one database to full text documents in another Open/URL compliant database.

When you see a citation with no full text in your current database, click on the ARTICLE LINKER button or "Find It At Averett." A pop-up window displays the citation and options for acquiring a copy of the article. Some database publishers have not included the ARTICLE LINKER button or displays different language to describe it such as "Find A Copy."

"Article" takes you directly to the full text copy in an alternate database. This it the best option, though it sometimes results in errors due to insufficient information from journal publishers.

"Journal" links you to the journal title in an alternate database. Browse until you find the volume and issue cited.

"Database" links to the search interface in an alternate database, where you can search for the article using the citation information.

Note: The title and pagination of a citation may vary, especially for the different editions of a newspaper. Search by keywords in the title and author's last name if you have trouble locating the article.

Check the citation to make sure that dates match, then email aclib@averett.edu or call the library to request a fax or scanned copy from our print collections.

If your assignment is not due immediately, click on "Interlibrary Loan Form" on the pop-up ARTICLE LINKER window to request the article from another library. The form will be populated automatically with the article details. For most articles and book chapters, you can expect to receive an electronic copy in 2-5 days. Book loans are shipped to your preferred postal address in 4-7 days.
