You can search for company reports by company name or ticker symbol (KO for Coca Cola). Be aware of trade names and logos, and enter company names exactly as they are legally known. |
Factiva Company Reports |
Factiva indexes U.S. publicly traded companies, private companies, and international companies. Your search on a name may retrieve more than one match, including subsidiaries of the parent company, or different companies with similar names. The bulk of the financial data is stored under the link labeled "Financial Results." Reports can be downloaded to MS Excel for ease of comparison.
Begin at the Factiva "Companies/Markets" tab, then click on "Company," and type in the name or stock symbol. |

If you do not find the company in Factiva, try: LexisNexis Academic, which indexes public, private, and international firms.
In LexisNexis Academic Universe, click on "Business," then "Company Profiles." |
Free web sites for Company Financial Information |
Yahoo Finance: Click on "symbol lookup" and enter company name. Change "market" to "world markets" if the company is non-U.S.
CNN Money - Click on "Companies," then type the company name in the box labeled "Company Research.
Edgar Databases (Security and Exchange Commission) - Click on "Search for Company Filings," then "Companies and other Filers." |
SWOT Analysis |
A SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) is another way to view a company's standing in its market. In Business Source Complete, click on the "Company Profiles" button and enter the company name, or browse the index of companies. Click on "Datamonitor" to view reports in PDF format. |

To determine market share for individual companies, search Business Source Complete and type "market share" and the product, for example, "market share and cars" in the search box. You can also contact the library reference desk and ask the librarian to consult a print source: Market Share Reporter (Ref HF 5410 .M35). |
